Welcome to Nextbase v5!

Eight starter kits. Build with your preferred stack, and let people and agents use the same app.

Nextbase v5 gives you 8 starter kits to choose from. Pick your frontend, pick your database, and start building your product.

The app already has sign up, login, workspaces, projects and an admin area. Your users can work through the website, or connect an agent to get things done for them. Both use the same account and the same workspace permissions.

What's new in v5?

We now have Next.js and TanStack kits for Supabase, Convex, Neon and Cloudflare D1. Each kit has its own user MCP and admin MCP, with OAuth and a seperate place to manage connections.

An MCP is the interface an agent uses to talk to your running app. For example, a user can ask their agent to list projects in their workspace. An application administrator can connect to the admin MCP to look up users and workspaces.

You don't need to change your login provider to use this. Supabase kits keep Supabase Auth, Convex kits keep Convex Auth, and Neon and D1 kits keep Better Auth.

Where should I start?

  1. Choose your starter.
  2. Follow getting started, then the setup steps for your kit.
  3. Create an account and a workspace in the app.
  4. Connect an agent when you are ready.

If you already know which stack you want, open its section under The 8 starter kits in the sidebar. Each kit has its own overview, installation guide, environment variables reference, and pages for authentication, agent connections, project structure and deployment.

For humans and agents

You get a website your users can actually use, along with tools their agents can call. The admin connection is separate because running the whole application needs different permissions from using one workspace.

If you are using a coding agent to build your product, see building with agents. That's where we cover repository instructions, skills and a practical way to work on a feature.

See the v5 release notes for the details of this release. Older docs are still available in the version menu.
