Getting started

Get the repository, start your kit locally and create your first workspace.

Welcome to Nextbase! Let's get your app running first. You can configure billing and the other integrations after that.

1. Get your repository

Use the GitHub repository you have access to for your kit. The exact names and links are on the starter pages.

For example, for the Next.js Supabase kit:

git clone https://github.com/usenextbase/nextjs-supabase-starter.git
cd nextjs-supabase-starter

If GitHub says the repository doesn't exist, check that you are signed in with the account that has access.

2. Install dependencies

Use Node.js 24 and the pnpm version declared in your kit's package.json. Some kits use pnpm 10 and others use pnpm 11. Let the repository's packageManager field choose the version.

corepack enable
pnpm install

For Supabase, use one local project per agent or worktree: Docker or Podman for parallel work on your computer, or the native runtime in a supported sandbox without Docker. The other Postgres setups use Docker. The D1 kits use local Worker databases, and Convex has its own local backend.

3. Follow your kit's setup

The env file location and database commands differ between kits. Each kit has its own section in the sidebar under The 8 starter kits, with an installation page, an environment variables reference, and pages for authentication, agent connections, project structure and deployment. Open your kit from choose your starter and follow its Installation page.

Copy example env files only when you haven't already created your own. Keep the database and web server running while you work.

4. Sign up and create a workspace

Open the local address printed by the dev server, then sign up. Verify your email when the kit asks for it. Local emails are available in the kit's inbox or email development service.

Complete the account setup and create a workspace. Try adding a project through the website before connecting an agent. This gives you something useful to test with.

5. Connect your agent

Open your account's connection settings and copy the User MCP address. Follow connect an agent to approve access to your workspace.

That's it. You can start working on your own feature now. You can definately come back to billing, analytics and social login once the basic app is running.

Local Supabase per agent

Give each coding agent an isolated Supabase project, with Docker on your computer or native processes in a sandbox.
